Restoring your smile one tooth at a time.
Dental fillings are one of the most common procedures undertaken in dentistry. They help to restore strength and function to teeth, so they live to bite another day!
Why do I need a filling?
Fillings are required when teeth are damaged or decayed. They may also be used to improve the appearance of teeth if desired. During an in-depth consultation with your dentist, they will be happy to discuss all treatment options available to you.
In most cases, teeth are suitable to be treated with composite (white filling) restorations. Material technology has now allowed white fillings to restore teeth in all parts of the mouth and provide a robust, long-lasting and cosmetic solution.
Composite fillings (white fillings) are made from a tooth-coloured composite and dental resin for strength and a natural appearance.
Is the treatment uncomfortable?
All procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic if required, for your comfort. Should you be apprehensive about your treatment, please discuss your concerns with any member of the team. Sedation is available for our nervous patients.
Can all teeth be filled?
There are many ways of restoring teeth. The most suitable treatment is determined by the amount of tooth decay present and the shape and size of the cavity needing to be filled.
If dental fillings are not appropriate, other options may include inlays, onlays, or crowns.
We will always advise you of all the options available and their associated benefits, as well as the best-recommended option.
