Why do I need a denture?

Dentures are a removable appliance that is used to replace the appearance and function of missing teeth. They are also helpful as a temporary solution during long-term treatments such as dental implants.

What types of dentures are available?

We are fortunate to have many types of dentures available. All dentures fall under two categories; full dentures and partial dentures. Full, or complete dentures, are required to replace all teeth in an arch, whereas partial dentures replace one or more teeth where you have natural teeth remaining.

What are dentures made from?

Most dentures, in part, will be made from dental acrylic.

Dental acrylic comes in many colours, including tooth-coloured materials that closely match the shade of your natural teeth.

In some cases, you may wish to consider a cobalt chrome denture whereby the base is made of a metal frame on which the artificial teeth sit. These are thinner and more comfortable for those not used to wearing dentures.

How long will it take to make my dentures?

We are fortunate to have a dental laboratory on-site, meaning that we can cut the treatment time for dentures down to 24 hours compared to average times of 6 weeks!

For your dentures to be made, you will have an initial consultation with your dentist before a sequence of impressions, bite and trial denture shade and fit before finally walking away with your brand-new teeth.
